It is for an oversized land holding (2 combined lots) along one of Aspen’s most prestigious streets, Lake Avenue and along the edge of Hallam Lake and the Roaring Fork River in Aspen’s historic West End. The seller was Rob Walton, former chairman of Walmart and the eldest son of Walmart founder Sam Walton. The Waltons had a smaller home on the property that they tore down about 3-4 years ago to build a new home. A new foundation was completed but the new residence was not. In order for a new owner to build on the property, permits must be re-applied for and given current new construction uncertainty within the City of Aspen due to a 6 month building moratorium – recently extended for two additional months to August 2022 – it is not clear what and how big a new home can be built on the property.
